World Cup: Saudi soccer team land safely in Rostov after engine fire

ENGINE MALFUNCTION / Rossiya Airlines Airbus A319 (VP-BNB) suffered right-hand engine malfunctions on approach to Rostov-on-Don carrying a delegation of the Saudi football team from St. Petersburg to Rostov, flight #FV1007. Streaks of flames were visible behind the engine. All safe.

Saudi Arabia’s national football team landed safely in Rostov-on-Don, Russia, after one of the engines on the plane carrying the players to a World Cup match appeared to catch fire.

The Saudi Arabian Football Federation would like to reassure everyone that all the Saudi national team players are safe, after a technical failure in one of the airplane engines that landed earlier this evening at Rostov-on-Don airport, and they’ve reached their hotel safely.
