Jaipur, Udaipur airport employees to boycott work to protest PPP mode

Jaipur: The employees of Udaipur and Jaipur airports will boycott work and go on leave on December 28. The airport employee’s union will stage a protest on December 28 against the government’s decision to manage six airports of India under Public Private Partnership (PPP) mode.

The central government announced in November that Jaipur and five more airports of the country – Lucknow, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangalore will be managed on Public-Private Partnership (PPP) mode. The government claimed that it would boost infrastructure and facilities for passengers.

The six airports including Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, and Mangalore will be managed by private firms in the near future.
According to the president of Udaipur Airport employees union, the employees will stage a protest against the government’s decision to implement PPP model at six airports of the country on December 28. The supervision of these airports should be under the Airport Authority of India and not under any private firm, he said.
